Sebastiaan Van Doninck (born 1979) is a versatile visual artist and illustrator based in Halle, Antwerp, Belgium.

Sebastiaan's creative practice is driven by a profound fascination with the natural world and the Grimm/uncanny. Working primarily in drawings and paintings—including plein air studies—he has developed a visual language shaped by years of experience in children's literature and editorial illustration.

His autonomous work draws rich inspiration from fairy tales and folk art traditions. Sebastiaan often creates theatrical, animal-like figures that appear "disconnected" or searching for purpose within mystical, natural landscapes. These compositions are meticulously detailed yet harmonious, never feeling overwhelming or chaotic.

Playful humor, surreal poetry, and subtle critical commentary appear in his visual narratives. In our constantly shifting world, his work strives to offer moments of tranquility while maintaining a thoughtful, questioning perspective.
